2020 finished on a high note for Iris Anne Lewis when she heard that she had been nominated by Black Bough Poetry for the Pushcart Prize for her poem Swan Song in the Geissenklösterle Cave.
The Pushcart Prize is an American literary prize published by Pushcart Press that honours the best “poetry, short fiction, essays or literary whatnot”[1] published in the small presses over the previous year. Magazine and small book press editors are invited to submit up to six works they have featured from which the final selection is made. Anthologies of the selected works have been published annually since 1976. The initiative is supported and staffed by volunteers.
Published as part of Black Bough’s Silver Branch series where Iris was the featured poet for November 2020, you can read her poem along with a section of her other works at https://www.blackboughpoetry.com/iris-anne-lewis
